The problem

Where do your important documents live today?

Almost certainly in three places, none of them built to keep a secret, and none of them watching a single date.

01

Scattered in your camera roll

Your passport sits between a lunch photo and a screenshot, unsearchable, un-backed-up, one lost phone from gone.

02

Buried in your inbox

The signed lease is an attachment in a thread from two years ago. You will not find it the night you need it.

03

Copied across every cloud

iCloud, Drive, Dropbox: the same sensitive files mirrored onto servers other people administer, and can be compelled to open.

04

And expiring, quietly, everywhere

None of those places watches a date. The passport that lapsed eight months ago looks exactly like a valid one, right up to the moment the airline check-in desk tells you.

The things that prove who you are deserve better than good enough. Secludere gives them a proper vault.

The app

One vault, on every Apple device you own.

Native for macOS and iOS, built with the same encryption core. Scan on your iPhone, file it on your Mac, and it is already there, encrypted, the moment you turn on sync.

The full vault

Three panes: folders, your documents, and every extracted field of the one you opened.

iPhone

Expirations, watched

Passports, visas, insurance, sorted by what lapses first, with reminders before it does.

Face ID

Locked until it is you

A glance opens it. The key never leaves the Secure Enclave on your device.

Three steps, then you can forget it is there.

How it works
01

Create your vault

Choose a master password. Write down the 24-word recovery phrase Secludere generates on your device. That is the entire setup, no email, no account.

02

Bring your documents in

Scan with the camera, drag a PDF, or share from Files. On supported devices, Secludere reads each scan on the device: it detects what it is, pulls out the key details, then names and files it. Nothing leaves your device.

03

Open it with a glance

Face ID, Touch ID, or Optic ID unlock the vault in an instant, so strong security never means retyping a password fifty times a day.

What it does

The work is automatic. The control stays yours.

Reads itself

It reads your documents so you never retype them.

On devices with Apple Intelligence, Secludere reads each scan entirely on your device: it detects what the document is, pulls out the key details like numbers and dates, then names it and files it. No setup, and nothing leaves the device. Scan a passport and its number, name, nationality, and expiry fill in straight from the machine readable zone, verified digit by digit. On older devices a careful on device reader still catches emails, phones, and dates. Want an extra layer? Optional Smart Extract with Claude uses your own key, and sends only recognized text, never the image.

Reminders

Nothing important lapses on your watch.

Expiry dates are picked up from the scan itself, including Spanish labels like Vencimiento, and Secludere watches them for you with local notifications weeks or months ahead. No more discovering an expired passport at the airport.

How expirations work
Access

Yours by your face, or your fingerprint.

Face ID, Touch ID, and Optic ID unlock the vault. On iPhone, Face ID starts automatically the moment the lock screen opens. An auto-lock timer seals it again when you step away.

Recovery

A 24-word phrase only you hold.

The same BIP39 standard hardware wallets use. There is no “forgot password” link, and that is exactly the point.

Optional sync

End-to-end across your devices.

Switch on iCloud sync and your vault mirrors to your other devices, original files included, everything encrypted before it leaves. Apple only ever sees ciphertext. Off by default.

Backup · optional

Your own safety copy, in one file.

Optional, and purely for peace of mind. A backup saves everything in your vault into a single file. Make one, and if your iPhone or Mac is ever lost, stolen, or simply stops working, you can put every document back on a new device, exactly as it was. You lock the file with a password you choose, so it is useless to anyone who finds it, and you keep it wherever you trust: a hard drive, a USB key, your own cloud. No iCloud needed, and Secludere never has to be involved.

What it is

One file with a copy of your whole vault.

Why bother

Get everything back if a device is lost or breaks.

Who can open it

Only you, with the password you set. No one else.

How to back up & restore
Find

Find anything in seconds.

Folders and favorites to organize how you think, then search by title, type, field, note, or a word buried in a scan. Every search runs on your device.

passport on-device
One document, many files

Add the back of the card later.

A document can hold several files: the front and back of a card, a renewal letter, extra pages of a contract. Every file you add is read on your device and joins the document’s searchable text. When a new file carries a fresh date or number, Secludere suggests the update, and you approve it with one tap.

Renewals

Scan the new card. It handles the old one.

Scan a renewed card or ID and Secludere notices you already have one with the same number. Mark it as a renewal and, the moment the new scan saves, the old document is archived for you: one current card in the library, the old one kept for reference.

Archive

Old papers, out of the way, never lost.

Keep expired documents for reference. They leave the library and the expiry list but stay fully intact, still one search away.

Trash

Nothing is ever lost by accident.

Deleted documents wait in the Trash for 30 days, restorable with everything they had. Only then are they removed for good.

Clean by default

The essentials first, details on demand.

Every document opens in a clean Simple view: the number, the expiry, the key fields. Switch to Full view when you want everything else.

Security

It isn’t a feature. It’s the architecture.

Zero-knowledge means we are technically incapable of opening your vault. Not as a policy. Not contractually. Architecturally. Here is what that buys you, and the mechanism behind each line.

Read the full security model

We are unable to read your files.

Your key is derived from your master password with PBKDF2-SHA256 at 600,000 iterations. We hold no master key, and the derivation only runs one way.

Encrypted before it touches the disk.

Every document is sealed with AES-256-GCM; the vault database itself is SQLCipher. At rest, there is nothing in the clear.

Nothing leaves your device by default.

Secludere is local-first. iCloud sync is opt-in and end-to-end encrypted, the decryption key never leaves your device, and Apple only ever stores ciphertext.

No one watches how you use it.

No analytics, no crash reports phoning home, no third-party SDKs. Zero telemetry, as a property of the build, not a promise in a policy.

Document reading happens on your device.

On devices with Apple Intelligence, Secludere reads and files each scan without anything leaving the device. The optional Smart Extract with Claude stays off until you add your own key, and even then only recognized text is sent, never the image, under a zero-retention agreement, so it is never used for training.

Recovery belongs to you alone.

A 24-word phrase generated on your device and shown to no one else. Lose both it and your password and the vault stays sealed forever. That is the feature, not a bug.

Your backup is yours alone too.

Export the whole vault as one file sealed with AES-256-GCM from a passphrase you choose. Keep it off iCloud, anywhere you like, and restore it on any device. Openable by no one but you.

About the name
Seclu·dere

From the Latin sēclūdere, “to lock away.” The oldest instinct there is: to put the precious thing somewhere only you can reach.

Look closer at the last syllable. dere is de re, a phrase from Latin law and philosophy meaning “about the thing itself.”

Seclu·de re: locking away the thing itself. Not a description of your documents. Not a copy. The originals, sealed.

Questions

Straight answers.

The honest kind, including where the trade-offs are.

You unlock the vault with your 24-word recovery phrase, then set a new password. If you have lost both, no one can open it, including us. That is the entire point of the design.

No. Files are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your master password. We never receive your password, your keys, or your files. We are technically incapable of decrypting them.

Only where you choose. Secludere is local-first, and it can export your whole vault as a single encrypted file sealed with a passphrase you pick, which you keep anywhere and restore on any device. Turn on iCloud sync and it also mirrors, end-to-end encrypted, to your other Apple devices.

Those services hold readable copies of your files on servers their staff administer, and which can be compelled to hand them over. Secludere stores ciphertext only. Even with sync on, the key to decrypt it never leaves your device.

No. On devices with Apple Intelligence, Secludere reads, classifies, and files each scan entirely on the device; nothing is sent anywhere. Smart Extract with Claude is an optional extra layer you enable with your own Anthropic key, and even then only the recognized text is sent, never the image, under a zero-retention agreement so it is never used for training. Leave it off and nothing ever leaves the device.

Both. Secludere is native on macOS and iOS, sharing the same encryption core, so you can scan on your iPhone and file on your Mac. iPad uses the same multi-column layout as the Mac.

Your vault is local and the app keeps working without us. The format is standard encryption, and because you hold the recovery phrase, you are never locked out by a company you no longer depend on.
